Combo Brows Tattoo Specialist Atwell

Balanced, beautiful brows that blend realism with soft shading — tailored just for you.

Ready to Experience the Best of Both Worlds?

Combo brows combine the natural, hair-like detail of nano strokes with the soft depth of machine shading — giving you the best of both techniques in one beautifully blended result. Whether you want subtle definition or a more structured, filled-in look, combo brows can be tailored to suit your skin, face, and personal style.

While my studio is based in Coogee, many of my clients travel from Atwell and nearby suburbs for expert, one-on-one cosmetic tattooing. If you’re ready for brows that stay put through every part of your day — with zero effort — I’d love to help you achieve a result that feels like you, just more polished.

What Are Combo Brows?

Combo brows are a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo that blends hair-stroke detailing at the front of the brow with soft, shaded colour through the arch and tail. This hybrid technique creates brows that appear full and natural, with just enough structure to frame your face and hold their shape over time.

The front of the brow mimics natural hairs using a nano technique, while the mid and tail sections are gently shaded for a more filled-in look. This creates a seamless transition from light to dark, offering:

  • Natural definition with a soft, makeup-like finish

  • Longer-lasting results on a wider variety of skin types

  • A more sculpted appearance without harsh edges or solid blocks

  • Customisable shape and intensity, depending on your personal goals

Combo brows are a great solution if you want more than just hairstrokes — but don’t want the full powdery finish of ombré brows.

Who Is This Treatment Best For?

Combo brows are an incredibly versatile option that work beautifully for a wide range of people. If you want natural definition with a bit more structure — but still want your brows to feel like your own — this treatment could be the perfect fit.

You may be an ideal candidate for combo brows if you:

  • Have sparse, uneven, or patchy brows and want to create the illusion of fullness

  • Prefer a realistic look with soft shading — more defined than hairstrokes alone, but without the boldness of fully powdered brows

  • Have slightly oily, mature, or combination skin, where traditional microblading might fade too quickly or heal unpredictably

  • Are looking to correct or refresh a previous brow tattoo that has faded, discoloured, or feels outdated

  • Want to wake up every day with brows that look neat, polished, and symmetrical, without reaching for makeup

  • Are new to cosmetic tattooing and want a result that’s balanced, customisable, and long-lasting

One of the key advantages of combo brows is that they’re created using a machine, not a manual tool like microblading. This allows for gentler application on the skin and tends to retain pigment better, especially on skin types that don't respond well to microblading. For many clients who’ve been told they aren’t suitable for brow tattooing due to their skin type, combo brows are a fantastic solution.

I also recommend combo brows for those who are torn between hairstrokes and shading — this technique delivers the best of both, offering the softness of nano strokes with the depth of light shading through the arch and tail.

During your consultation, I’ll look at your skin type, lifestyle, aesthetic goals, and any previous brow work to determine whether combo brows are the right option. If another method like nano or ombré would suit you better, I’ll explain why and walk you through those alternatives so you can feel confident in your decision.

If you’d like to chat things through first, I offer free phone consultations, and in-salon consultations can be booked for a small fee if you'd prefer a face-to-face conversation before committing.

Ultimately, combo brows are all about creating a natural, long-wearing look that enhances your features — without ever feeling overdone.

What to Expect During Your Appointment

One-on-One Consultation

We start with a detailed, personalised consultation. I’ll assess your skin type, brow structure, and personal preferences before designing a shape that suits your face and enhances your features. You’ll be fully involved in the design process — nothing begins until you’re completely happy with the plan.

Numbing and Preparation

A topical numbing cream is applied to make sure you're relaxed and comfortable. Most clients find the treatment very tolerable — many even fall asleep while I work. I allow plenty of time for comfort and precision, so the experience never feels rushed.

Combo Brow Tattoo Process

Using a digital machine, I create fine nano strokes at the front of the brow, followed by soft shading through the arch and tail. The full appointment takes around 2.5 hours, depending on your brows and the look you’re after.

Follow-Up Appointment

A follow-up session 6–8 weeks later is included and required. This is when we refine the shape, reinforce pigment where needed, and ensure the final result is even and long-lasting.

Thinking about eyeliner too? If you plan to get both brows and eyeliner tattooed, I recommend beginning the second area at your brow follow-up. It simplifies aftercare and saves time — plus, I take $50 off the total price when combining the two.

Aftercare and Results

Your healing journey begins the moment your combo brow session ends, and how you care for your brows in the days that follow plays a big role in how beautifully they settle. Proper aftercare supports pigment retention, helps prevent patchiness, and ensures your brows heal with soft, even colour and definition.

Before you leave the studio, I’ll talk you through everything step by step and provide a nourishing aftercare balm — so you can feel confident and prepared during the healing stage.

Aftercare Tips:

  • Keep your brows dry for the first 7 to 10 days. This includes avoiding water, steam, and sweat. Take care when showering or washing your face — use a damp cloth to gently cleanse around the area.

  • Avoid sweating, swimming, saunas, and sun exposure during the healing period, as moisture and UV rays can interfere with pigment settling.

  • Do not rub, pick, or scratch the area as the brows begin to flake or scab. Let the skin shed naturally to avoid disrupting the pigment.

  • Avoid makeup or active skincare products (like retinol, acids, or exfoliants) around the brows while healing. These can cause irritation or pigment fading.

  • Use the aftercare balm I provide exactly as instructed — it helps soothe the skin, prevent dryness, and support a healthy, even healing process.

A gentle skincare routine and avoiding any unnecessary stress to the skin will go a long way in preserving the detail and symmetry of your new brows.

Healing Timeline:

  • Days 1–3: Your brows will appear darker, sharper, and more intense than expected. This is completely normal and part of the pigment oxidising in the skin.

  • Days 4–7: You may notice light flaking or peeling as the outer layer of skin begins to shed. Avoid touching the area — even if it feels itchy.

  • Weeks 2–4: The colour will soften and settle into a more natural, powdery gradient. Some areas may appear slightly lighter — this is expected and will be refined at your touch-up.

  • Week 6–8: Your follow-up session is essential. During this visit, I’ll reinforce the pigment, perfect the shape, and ensure your brows heal evenly and look beautifully balanced.

Longevity and Maintenance:

Combo brows typically last 12 to 24 months, depending on your skin type, sun exposure, lifestyle, and daily skincare habits. Clients with oilier skin may notice slightly quicker fading, while drier or more balanced skin types often enjoy longer retention.

To maintain your results, I recommend annual refresh appointments, where we’ll top up the colour and make any refinements needed to keep your brows looking polished and fresh.

Your brows are an investment in simplicity, confidence, and time saved each morning — and with the right aftercare, that investment can continue to reward you for many months to come.
