Skin Needling
What Is Skin Needling?
Here at Sueperb, I provide skin needling to clients in Perth who are looking to address a multitude of different skin conditions. I use the high grade, professional, TGA approved Micro-Needling tool for all needling treatments. Skin needling might sound a little scary! So what is it, exactly?
There are a few terms given to this incredible method of skin improvement.
Skin needling is sometimes referred to as Micro-Needling or Collagen Stimulation Therapy. It was first discovered in the 1900s by surgeons wanting to improve the blood supply to scar tissue. It was then developed in the mid-1990s to the method we use today. Skin needling is a clinically proven method for rejuvenating your skin, which has very little down time. It’s a highly effective procedure that naturally stimulates the skins own healing ability by creating mini ‘perforations’ in the skin. These perforations allow the absorption of hydrating skin care products.

What Are The Benefits of Skin Needling / Micro-Needling?
Did you know only 2-5% of the nutrients we ingest actually reach our skin? Therefore, it’s easy for the skin to become dehydrated, dull and look unhealthy. Skin needling causes a natural immune response that stimulates the blood supply to the surface of the skin. It also increases collagen and elastin production from within the layers of your skin. This is particularly relevant to support our skin’s structure. Collagen molecules are larger than the surface of our skin would normally allow to penetrate, so stimulating your own production is a super-effective way of improving the look and structure of your skin.
This is why Micro Needling can also be referred to as Collagen Induction Therapy .
All skin types will benefit from this rejuvenating procedure as it works in harmony with your skins own healing ability.

Professional Skin Needling
I use only professional grade equipment and scientifically backed skin care products. Skin Needling works by oscillating micro-needles into the surface skin. This essentially creates tiny micro-injuries which encourages natural stem cell production, increases surface blood flow and stimulates collagen and elastin production.
During Skin Needling
What To Expect During Your Skin Needling Appointment
As a trained Beauty Therapist (UK) and Skin Needling Technician and a Skin Integrity Champion through the University of Queensland, I am able to assess the fundamental requirements of your skin. This means I have a very strong understanding of skin, and am able establish the cause of your skin concerns. It is necessary to have a series of 4-6 treatments with a 4, 6 or 8 week gap between each session. This varies depending on the requirements of your skin.
The majority of the skin’s cell rejuvenation, collagen and elastin stimulation takes place between 4-10 days after your appointment with each session building on the previous appointments results and improvement. This is why I recommend a series of 4-6 appointments over a period of time to give you the best opportunity for your skin’s rejuvenation.
Skin Needling or Micro Needling can be performed on many areas of the skin including face, chest, back After an initial consult to discuss your concerns, I undertake a thorough inspection of your skin. Before commencing needling, your skin will be cleansed and prepared with a high quality hyaluronic gel. This acts as a slip and deeply hydrates your skin.
Your skin will be treated in structured sections for approximately 1 hour.
Afterwards, your skin is treated with patented Human Stem Cell skin care from Neogenesis to promote healing and rejuvenation.
A topical anaesthetic is not used, as this can be detrimental to the process.
It is essential to book your appointment when you can be free of make up for 5 days.
A PHYSICAL ZINC BASED SUNBLOCK, NOT chemical, must be worn for at least 7 days post-treatment. I recommend using this on a continual basis. I have a suitable product from WA available to purchase in the salon after your treatment.
What To Expect Post Care
You may experience a moderate tingling sensation. The treatment can create discomfort, but I promise it’s worth it!
You must keep out of any sunlight for minimum of 48hrs.
Keep your post needling skin care routine focused on repairing the skin’s barrier to avoid irritation, inflammation and infection. You cannot apply any makeup to the area of your skin which as been treated as this will cause irritation. You can wear mascara and eyeliner but be careful when removing it.
Day 1. Slight redness and stingy feeling with minor swelling. Please treat your skin gently. I suggest only splashing your face with filtered water and using a hyaluronic acid serum. One will be applied immediately post treatment.
Day 1-2 Your skin will feel sensitive and tight, and you are likely to have some dry and flaky patches. You must now apply the zinc based sunscreen I have supplied you with. Continue with the hyaluronic serum. Day 2 you can use an light , barrier repairing moisturiser which does not contain any harsh or “active” ingredients like retinoids, skin brighteners (Vitamin C) You must also avoid applying any substances which contain fragrance or alcohol, AHA, BHA or acids. Neogenis* products are recommended as their formula has been specifically created to soothe and heal skin.
Day 3-4 Your sensitivity will reduce, and dead skin cells will peel away. Your skin will feel super smooth! Continue applying the serum, moisturiser and zinc or physical sunscream. Do not use and chemical based UVA\B blockling suncreams .
Day 4-5 Your skin will be feeling normal and without sensitivity!
Day 5-7 You can now return to your normal routine and you can wear your makeup as usual.
