Saline Removal
✦ What Is Saline Removal?
At Sueperb Cosmetic Tattooing, I am qualified in the removal of unwanted Cosmetic Tattoos using an approved method of Saline Removal.
Sometimes it is necessary to remove old or unwanted tattoos. Maybe you have noticed a change in the colour or would prefer another shape?
These are often the reasons clients come to Sueperb Cosmetic Tattooing to have their brows removed.
1. Over saturation of the skin by pigment
2. Dislike of the shape or colour of the cosmetic tattoo.
✦ Why Have My Brows Changed Colour?
Pigments and techniques have changed over the years. This why it is important to book your appointment with a Cosmetic Too Artist who regularly updates their skills and knowledge in this area.
1. If your brows were Microbladed or created a few years ago, it’s possible that your skin has old pigment which is now in the lower levels of the epidermis. This might mean you are now wanting to update or refresh your brows.
2. Oxidisation of pigment- living in Western Australia, the high UV will oxidize the lighter pigments such as the yellows and reds. The remaining pigments are grey and blue so that’s why your brows a have a cooler tone to them as they age.
3. Skin Type. Mature skin loves moisture, and pigment is not distinguished form any other form of liquid. You skin will hold more pigment for longer.
4. Skin Care Products. At Sueperb, I ask clients not to use Retinal, AHA or BHA, salicylic Acid ( Vit C ) skin brighteners or exfoliating rubs over their brows as this will have an effect on the pigment.
5. Skin Care Treatments. Please avoid Glycolic or fruit acid peels, microdermabrasion and Skin Needling / Micro needling to the brow area as this will also have a negative effect on your brow pigment.
It is important to understand that your skin can become saturated with pigment and adding new pigment is, unfortunately not possible.
Your skin is like a sponge and can only absorb so much liquid pigment. If more is added there are 2 consequences which will happen.
1. The newly applied pigment can migrate, and you could lose the shape
2. The new additional pigment will fall away during the healing process.
Saline removal is an option I have offered to clients since 2021. It works with your body to expel the pigment. A Hypertonic of purified saline, Aloe Vera and plant acids help to lift the unwanted pigment from the area.
✦ Is This Painful?
A numbing cream is used before and throughout the process
✦ How Many Sessions Will I need?
Of course, everyone would love a definitive answer, but it really depends on how much pigment is there, how long and how deep it’s been n your skin and what type of pigment was used.
To enhance and refresh the colour, I just need to remove enough pigment to ensure there is enough space in your epidermis to gently adjust the existing colour.
If you are looking to totally remove the pigment, then more sessions will be required.
A maximum of 6 sessions at a minimum of 6 weeks intervals are permitted.
✦ Can I wear Make Up
I strongly advice NOT TO WEAR Make up on the brow area or across your forehead until the flakes have fallen away and any redness has subsided. This is normally 5-7 days after the appointment.
If you would like to discuss your options please feel free to book in a Phone Consultation.
